Vision & Values

We have a dream of becoming a people who…

Embrace faith in the living God
We want to be a sacred people who find meaning in the ordinariness of life. A people who deepen our walk with God. We believe this will happen as we trust our lives to God as Jesus did.

Embrace hope for the renewing of our communities
We want to be a people who participate in Jesus’ call to make the world a better place for the glory of God. We believe this will happen as we practice Jesus’ compassion for neighbor and world.

Embrace love for each other
We want to be a safe gathering where everyone can authentically be themselves while feeling known, loved, and celebrated. A gathering where people can find healing and wholeness through compassionate relationships. We believe this will happen as we practice Jesus’ inclusive love for all so that no one is treated as an outsider.

The things that shape us

(True) Inclusivity

We value diversity as a gift from God and we believe we have much to learn from each other. All people are welcome no matter gender, sexual orientation, age, race, ability, faith background, relationship status, family configuration, citizenship status, political affiliation, etc. The doors are open wide to all who want to follow Jesus and learn his life-giving way.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

(Total) Authenticity

We value the uniqueness that God has created in each person and want to see every person reflect their identity in honest ways before each other without fear of shame or condemnation. We hope people will be themselves even if they are wrestling with doubt, skepticism, depression, or anger. It is through honesty that we can begin to find healing.

The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)

(Radical) Hospitality

We value demonstrating compassion and love for one another. We put a high priority on serving the needs of others. We want to make all people feel loved and wanted just as Jesus did.

Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.” Then he put a little child among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me.” (Mark 9:35-37)

(Formative) Community

We value communing together for mutual support, encouragement, and celebration along the journey of faith. One of the essential practices of healthy community is actively listening to one another. We seek to understand before being understood. In humility we will build meaningful relationships. We believe it is in a trusted community of people that God best forms us spiritually.

Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
