Greetings to you on this All Saints’ Day 2018. November 1st is the day on the calendar each year that is set aside to remember the faithfully departed that trusted the Lord Jesus with their lives, passed the faith along to the following generations and played an important role in forming our faith today. The word “saint” means “holy one.” We are made holy when we come to Jesus. So, today, we honor all the faithful Christians that have gone before us and passed from this life to rest in the presence of our Holy God.
This Sunday we will honor the memory of the saints that were special to us and our formation as believers. There will be a special picture slideshow presentation during the sacrament of communion. Please consider emailing Flo (office@ccc-stl.org) any pictures of departed saints you would like to include in the slideshow. These can be saints from any era of Christian history that have impacted your life, not just kin.
Looking forward to being with you Sunday for this special observance.
Prayer for All Saints’ Day
Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
